Your hosts are Janet Reeder and Dr. Darrell Reeder.
On June 16, 2004, Janet and Darrell purchased the Joseph Lawrence House B&B from Barbara and Patrick Kelly who had begun renovations in 1999 in order to prepare it as a Bed & Breakfast venue.
Janet and Darrell welcomed their first guests on June 25, 2004. Since then, they have completed extensive restoration and renovations for the comfort of their guests. They have also added vintage lighting and furnishings throughout so that their guests can experience the elegance and charm of an old Victorian home from the earliest days of prosperity in Collingwood.
In 2004, Janet retired from Sears Canada as Coordinator of Human Resources in Barrie, Ontario. She is a skilled and imaginative planner and coordinator of special events. In 1999, Darrell returned to Ontario after having lived in Massachusetts for 34 years. He recently retired from a varied career in clinical psychology, clinical supervision, teaching, and healthcare administration.
Janet and Darrell enjoy involvement in communitiy activities. Both are members of the Collingwood Chapter of the Architectural Conservency of Ontario. Janet is Vice President of the Collingwood Horticultural Society. Currently, Darrell is Executive Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Georgian Triangle Tourist Association. He recently completed a term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Ontario Bed and Breakfast Accommodation, and is a member of the Heritage Advisory Committee of the Town of Collingwood. Janet and Darrell are transferring their interest and experience in nurturing people from their previous careers to their new retirement activites as co-hosts of the Joseph Lawrence House B&B. Now they enjoy the daily challenges of property management and maintenance, gardening, landscaping, preparing breakfast, and providing enjoyment and hospitality for their many guests who, in turn, warmly enrich them in many ways.
